AEFJN works with other NGOs in Africa, Europe and the United States for economic
partnerships between Africa and Europe that offer a better future for the people of Africa.
Its members have experience of the reality of life in Africa. Their Christian faith gives
them a deep respect for each and every human being and a wish to support people
who do not yet enjoy their fair share of the gifts of creation.
This year, AEFJN is focussing chiefly on:
Economic Partnership Agreements [EPAs] that the European Union would like to draw
up with African countries; Agrofuels - how the West's thirst for fuel is reducing Africa's autonomy and ability to
grow enough food; Access to Quality Medicines; The Control of Small Arms;
Water Privatisation and related issues.
AEFJN carries out this work by the gathering and sharing information, campaigning and lobbying at national and European levels.
To mark International 'Stop EPAs' Day, European campaigners, including AEFJN Secretariat and Belgian Antenna members, joined forces outside the European Parliament in Brussels on 23 September 2008 to urge MEPs to put pressure on the Commission to reopen negotiations on the EPA deals.
