The Consolata Missionaries: a family on the path to missionary holiness.

South Africa Delegation: Newcastle Pax Christi Centre: 31 October 2006
Reflection made by Fr. Tarcisio Foccoli during the Holy Hour.

Holy in “OUR PLACE AND OUR SPACE”

We understand the difficulties to leave our places and our spaces where we worked and the uncertainty of the future locally and specially spiritually.

  • We would like to find the motivation of the difficulties
  • Our places and our spaces are neutral. Our thoughts and our relationships are giving us a direction and reason of our actions.

We need to:

  • analyse some situations, experiences, needs, and emotions
  • learn to transform our errors and delusions
  • give meaning to our work, to meetings with our brothers - e.g. prayer, reflection,
  • give meaning to our feelings - what we have achieved, what we have shared, the reality of life
  • to view our spaces in order to encounter ourselves, others and God himself.
  • to be able to feel our spaces and places going in the right direction
  • to share with our brothers our excitements in order to feel the joy and the hope that we can be better
  • - to live all the moments of our daily life knowing that we make a personal contribution to the growth of the community

Some reflections:

At the table: We should be able to communicate with one another sharing our experiences, difficulties, problems and errors, and to know that we will get a fair hearing. We should be able to build up community feelings and community actions.

The Chapel: This is the place where we meet each other and with God. Where we evaluate our relationship with God and with all our brothers. We have the chance to have a real communion with God and our brothers. To evaluate our spiritual life and have the joy to restart our religious life. The Divine Office - the Holy Mass.

Our personal room: (3 minutes - personal reflection)

Our recreation room: Where we learn not to be selfish - to share what we have - to discuss the different aspects of live as shown on the TV - but to remember that God is still in charge of the universe

Our vehicles: Learn to be responsible drivers - not to want to always be in front - not to be negligent thus causing the death of someone - never to drink and drive - if tired, stop to have a rest before continuing the journey.

Conversations: Try not to use bad language - be tolerant of others views - listen - be optimistic and hopeful of a better tomorrow - to be men who forgive and forget -

Our behaviour: We should always strive to behaviour in a manner suitable to our vocation - dress modestly and decently - behave in a gentlemanly manner - do not be rough in handling of people - smile when you want to be angry -

Our visiting: Be compassionate when visiting the elderly and handicapped - show love to the family - do not waste time when unnecessary, e.g. visiting friends only

Our timetable: Remember --- there is a time to live and to die, to work, to rest, ……. Time is a great gift from God - firstly we are called to use our time to reach our holiness; secondly to be a missionary;

Our “Missionary spirit”: In all the above activities we must never forget that we are religious missionaries call to live holiness in community life. The community project of life”."Unita’ d'intenti"

United in spirit and work. “They will know that you are my disciples by the love you have each another”.(John).
