PLAN OF AMV IN AFRICA – 2004
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
We propose a culture of vocational, missionary animation that faces the new challenges of the social, political, cultural and ecclesial reality in Africa, accompanying the youth in their process of growth in faith and missionary vocation: in their family, and in their educational, social and ecclesial context.
PART I
Spirituality and Activities of the Vocation, Missionary Animator
The vocational animator is above all a person identified with Christ, of profound prayer and discernment, who loves the Institute and the Church, who knows how to confront him/herself with the Word of God and share it (lectio divina, missionary rosary, …), and is ready to witness by his/her life before any other activity.
Line of Action:
At the personal level
-
To form the animators through on-going formation and auto-formation.
-
To reinforce the bonds of communion and collaboration among the IMC and MC in virtue of the same charism (common team, programs, activities and evaluations).
-
To cultivate the collaboration with other pastoral agents (dioceses, religious institutes, PMS Lay Consolata Missionaries, …)
At the regional level
-
To learn the local language, local culture, and ecclesial situations…
-
To have a full time animator in each Region or Delegation for a prolonged period of time; that he/she be given the necessary facilities;
-
To create a center of vocational, missionary animation (within the next two years).
-
To exchange vocational materials among the regions.
At the continental level
PART II
Vocational Discernment and Accompaniment and Missionary Animation
We are called to accompany the youth with whom we work, beginning from their reality, until they can discover their own values, grow in the understanding of their vocation and become protagonist of their own evangelization as well as that of the others.
Line of Action
-
To know the problems, the history and the realities of the families that our youth come from, showing them a spirit of welcoming and consolation.
o Getting close to the families so as to better know their values and cultural impediments.
o Giving a human and Christian formation to the families.
o Being aware of the social-economic level of the families and the problem of AIDS that they face, willing to direct them to specific organizations.
o Looking for collaboration, above all, in the IMC parishes encouraging our communities and parishes to involve themselves in vocation promotion.
o Visiting the parishes in order to revive the missionary and vocational consciousness of the Christians;
o Giving responsibility to the laity in vocational, missionary animation.
-
To stimulate and accompany the young person in the educational field until he/she discovers his/her identity and vocation.
o Making the parents aware of the educational level of the youth.
o Helping the youth by offering them a proper and equipped environment for their studies by involving also the laity (teachers, Form four leavers, etc.)
o Inserting ourselves in the youth movements through the formation of leaders and by creating movements where there are none.
o Creating youth missionary groups according to IMC/MC charism.
For Consideration: Suggestions of the General Secretariat of the Mission (IMC)
This plan should enlighten and orientate the specific regional plans and projects. The people responsible for AMV at the regional level should meet as soon as possible to actualize these directives
To implement the plans of the continental meetings and make them effective the secretariat proposes to have a continental team formed by some of the AMV representative from the regions in collaboration with the continental counselors and the secretariat.
